at one time i wanted to be a herpetologist. that went by the way along with microtubule transport proteins because of life stuff. after while of diving into subject areas for years at a time as a professional student, I realized that I am a librarian. My love affair with knowing and remembering and just looking and researching relies on creating memory tricks/ mnemonic devices like: how many scutes on the majority of turtles? 13
the title also alludes to the creation myths found across all but the southwestern area of north america. turtle people and snake people. and really, there are spider people too. But I am definitely turtle people. and now i live, unwittingly, in a city built on what was called turtle place. fitting.
science, memory, myth, learning and randomness all combine to make a documentary film and community memory project that i hope flourishes. turtle 13
